So I have ten days to make six paintings. I already have the boards and all I need to do is get inspired and start drawing things. My opening is on the 1st of April at Epoch. I can’t believe I have been procrastinating this long. Well to my defense, I did get wrung by this music madness called SXSW!
SXSW came like a hurricane and left me uneven keeled. Only now that I feel a bit normal again. I suppose I did go out last Monday to see Anthony Bourdain and the Golden Boys at Trailer Space Records and then to the movies for the Jay Reatard documentary Better Than Something. South by this year is definitely one of the better ones I’ve been to lately and one of the longest. It was soooo overwhelming. I never seen so many great shows. My most memorable was Friday night at Emo’s East with the Oh Sees and the Spitz, Saturday night at 29th St. Ballroom with the Nerves and Bill Murray, The Golden Boys at the Sidebar Sunday afternoon and the Tough Shits at Iron Bear later that afternoon.
Wish me luck and maybe come by if you have the time. I’ll post the flyer soon!

I’m reading this book by Victor Bockris, an Andy Warhols biography. I’ve read many books on the Velvets and the New York music scene which in some ways touches on some of Andy’s life but this biography uncovers so many mystery and so many things that I have always been just haphazardly conscious about- especially about the actors, the films, and the drama that transpired in the infamous Factory. It’s definitely intriguing. Warhol is madness crazy- he’s a genius!
